Lori Brown

Vice President and General Counsel

As Vice President and General Counsel, Lori advises Portico on all legal and regulatory matters, including those related to its health care, financial, and retirement products. She also is responsible for Internal Audit and Compliance.

A ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Portico helps those who serve to live well – financially, emotionally, and physically. Portico’s mission of serving faith-based organizations has shaped Lori’s work beyond that of benefits attorney to include a call of service to Portico and its members.

Lori brings extensive legal experience and strong leadership to Portico from previous roles as Adjunct Professor of Business Law at St. Catherine’s University, Vice President in the General Counsel’s Office at Ameriprise Financial Corporation, and as an Attorney at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas and a Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, both located in St. Paul, MN.

Currently, Lori is Board Secretary for the Church Benefits Association and a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association. She also is a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where she serves on the church’s Endowment Committee and Staff Support Committee.
