David J. Quello

Vice President and Chief Investment Officer

With deep familial roots in the ELCA, David rejoined Portico in 2020 as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to direct all of Portico’s investment relationships and activities. A ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Portico helps those who serve to live well – financially, emotionally, and physically. Under David’s leadership, the Investment Team is committed to helping members achieve life-long financial well-being.

Prior to this, David was CIO for Waycrosse Inc., a single-family office providing investment services to high-net-worth individuals. His background also includes roles leading private equity and real asset programs at Portico and managing quantitative research at Thrivent Financial.

David’s passion for helping others and sharing his financial expertise extends to his service on the Board of Directors for Western National Mutual Insurance Company. He also is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Minnesota. David earned an MBA in finance and management information systems from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and a B.A. degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA.

David and his wife, Mary, have a son in college and a son in high school. David enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time at their cabin.
