Content Marketing Specialist

Department: Brand & Customer Engagement

Description

This position is responsible for supporting the promotion of Portico’s products, services, and key differentiators to inform, engage, and deepen relationships with existing employers, members, and prospective employers in support of Portico’s business objectives. This person will assist with strategy and contribute to execution of effective, targeted, creative content for both lead generation and retention campaigns that may include email, blogs, social media, print collateral, industry conferences and events, webinars, video, and website updates.

Key Responsibilities

With direction from Portico’s Brand &Customer Engagement (B&CE) leadership, this individual will assist with strategy development of employer or member marketing efforts and create content and marketing communication materials that attract and convert prospective employers and engage and retain existing members and employer customers. This role should operate with both a “think” and “do” attitude — being able to understand the big picture strategy and contribute to planning and creative briefs — as well as developing content and working with B&CE partners to execute the strategy.

Strategy Support

  • Work with B&CE leadership and strategists to help develop strategies that deliver an end-to-end customer experience, considering audience segments, tactics, timing, messaging, and measurement
  • Consult with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather requirements and approval on recommended strategies
  • Analyze and apply customer insights and feedback
  • Document and evaluate success of campaigns to inform future strategies
  • Envision how content will be presented and distributed in formats other than text, such as infographics or multimedia presentations
  • Contribute to editorial calendars to plan and organize content strategy and execution
  • Monitor market and industry trends and topics to inform content strategy and development
  • Assist with communication plans, message mapping, and engagement matrices, when needed

Content Creation

  • Draft, write, and edit multi-channel content, including promotional copy, targeted campaigns, news articles, ghostwritten thought leadership, technical benefit information, case studies, blog posts, email, events, landing pages, social media, and web copy
  • Create and maintain various templates (proposals, presentations, etc.) to describe and promote the overall brand, all products and services, and administration support services provided by Portico
  • Ensure that the organization’s brand and identity is adhered to in all content
  • Proofread and copy edit for quality, consistency, clarity, accuracy, and readability
  • Write to standards outlined in Portico’s marketing and editorial style guide and help to develop and evolve the guidance the company provides to its various stakeholders and consumers

Consulting and Collaborating

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, business development, and product managers to understand audience perspective, uncover business needs, and translate them into engaging content
  • Collaborate closely and effectively with agency partners, B&CE team members, and internal stakeholders to drive authentic, consistent, and engaging messaging, customer-centric content, and ensure accurate delivery across multiple channels
  • Draw from primary documents and interviews with subject matter experts
  • Represent B&CE and the Portico brand in reviewing all RFPs, sales presentation materials, and vendor communications
  • Work cross-functionally to optimize systems and processes that create an efficient approach to content creation, dissemination, testing, and iteration

Qualifications

  • Copywriting, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • General understanding of effective document design and visual storytelling
  • Knowledge of best practices in writing effective copy for print, web, advertising, and social media
  • Able to adapt brand voice to varying content channels
  • General research skills to inform thought leadership content
  • Project management skills and working knowledge of content production processes
  • Able to quickly develop an in-depth understanding of Portico and its products and services
  • Passion for relentless improvement to constantly level up what is produced
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Navigate conflict resolution within your team as well as within projects, teams, and partner relationships
  • Thrive in an Agile team environment
  • Adhere to compliance/legal requirements while still aligning to natural language and content standards
  • Understand and comply with Portico’s governance, risk, and compliance standards, including internal controls, regulatory compliance, and policy compliance

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field (journalism, advertising, communications)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 – 7 years professional work experience as a copywriter or content marketing communicator preferred
  • Financial services, investment, or health care industry experience
  • Experience translating complex concepts into clear, concise, and compelling customer-centric copy and content for a variety of channels
  • Experience communicating in a consultative and persuasive manner with stakeholders across the organization
  • Agile/Agile Marketing Certification preferred
