Treasury Analyst

The Treasury Analyst is responsible for the analysis, compliance, maintenance, and reconciliation of internal investment and portfolio data that is critical to the operations of the organization. This role provides support and delivers high-quality data to the Investment and Finance units.

The Treasury Analyst will reconcile transactions of the portfolio accounting system (Portia) with the Master Custodian on a daily basis, reconcile cash, security holdings, and portfolio valuations and support management of interal assets, including identification, research, reporting and correction of reconciling items. This position ensures that trade discrepancies are resolved, creates, maintains, and updates daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation spreadsheets, identifies best practices, adheres to key controls, and updates procedures.

This position also is designed to be project-oriented, including automation of manual reports, and improving processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Asset Transfer

  • Participate in monthly and special asset transfer meetings
  • Aggregate monthly portfolio, pool, and plan investment information for the investment portfolio into asset transfer system; analyze and interprete results
  • Develop recommendations on asset class and portfolio manager rebalancing activities of the investment program


  • Identify best practices for processes
  • Automate data and reports, including Bloomberg feeds, Workbench reporting, and Portia imports
  • Assist other areas in projects, including the improvement of those projects, specifically those within the Investment Unit
  • Maintain a fresh outlook on all processes and propose improvements

Investment Transaction Administration

  • Process transactions on portfolio accounting system
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly transaction and holdings reconciliations for internally managed portfolio to Master Custodian records
  • Conduct custodian fee monitoring and processing

Other Functions

  • Serve as backup for other roles within the department: performance, compliance monitoring, daily investment operations, daily cash management funding, and escheatment and outstanding check monitoring
  • Understand and comply with Portico’s governance, risk, and compliance standards such as internal controls, regulatory compliance, and policy compliance


  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills are required, including experience with complex reporting, macros, and data analysis tools in Access and Excel
  • Strong accounting, math, and analytical skills
  • Ability to take responsibility and work independently with a high level of attention to detail
  • Broad knowledge of the investment and treasury industry
  • Demonstrated strong analytical aptitude
  • Ability to anticipate and propose solutions to organizational needs
  • Demonstrated business acumen, initiative, and judgment
  • Ability to organize work and set priorities in a fast-paced complex unit
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and make independent decisions

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics


  • 3 – 5 years of experience in investment and/or treasury
  • Bloomberg, Portia, and Workbench experience a plus
