Project Manager/Resource Planning Lead

The Project Manager/Resource Planning Lead helps execute strategic, cross-functional priority projects for Portico Benefit Services with the responsibility of leading teams to deliver projects that span across one or more business units. This position will manage resources, schedules, financials, and adhere to stage-gate quality throughout the full systems development life cycle, including management of issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful, on-time, and high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Ownership of the entire project life cycle: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Maintain the enterprise project resource capacity plan
  • Analyze the project portfolio with respect to resource gaps and deviations from planned to actual capacity
  • Participate in the creation, maintenance, and prioritization of the enterprise portfolio of initiatives and the resource capacity plan, including analysis of resource utilization trends and identification of resource gaps in the capacity plan
  • Understand and comply with Portico’s governance, risk, and compliance standards, including internal controls, regulatory compliance, and policy compliance


  • Experience successfully leading projects to completion within schedule and budget parameters
  • Demonstrated operational problem solving, process development, and consensus building experience
  • Experience leading, motivating, and managing mid-size project teams including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance
  • Experience and skill in developing effective visual communication tools to illustrate project timelines and resource capacity
  • Ability to influence and interface with multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance, seeking guidance on complex tasks or where necessary
  • Comfortable and capable of influencing stakeholders, listening actively, and speaking and writing clearly
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business partners to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives
  • Ability to be flexible, with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Superior skills with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field that demonstrates project management


  • 5+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects
  • Experience with workforce capacity planning is a plus
  • PMP/PMI certification is a plus
  • Six Sigma training preferred
  • 1+ years of previous experience with requirements gathering and documentation
  • 3+ years of experience with full product life cycle with understanding of development life cycle and various supporting technology methodologies
  • Health care experience and knowledge preferred
