Description:

The Program Manager helps execute strategic, cross-functional priority projects for Portico Benefit Services with the responsibility for leading teams to deliver projects that span across one or more business units. This position will manage resources, schedules, financials, and adhere to stage-gate quality throughout the full systems development life cycle, including management of issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business
  • Provide on-site leadership for a project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals by adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Ownership of the entire project life cycle: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives as they relate to improving project delivery
  • Understand and comply with Portico’s governance, risk, and compliance standards, including internal controls, regulatory compliance, and policy compliance

Qualifications:

  • Superior skills with Microsoft Project, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience successfully leading projects and programs to completion within schedule and budget parameters
  • Demonstrated operational problem-solving, process development, and consensus building experience
  • Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance
  • Superior presentation skills with external audiences to fluidly and dynamically respond to client questions and articulated needs on a real-time basis
  • Ability to influence and lead multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff
  • Capable and comfortable working with minimal guidance, seeking guidance on only the most complex tasks or where necessary
  • Comfortable and capable of influencing stakeholders, listening actively, and speaking and writing clearly
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across, and down multiple business and technology organizations
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives
  • Ability to be flexible, with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field that demonstrates project management

Experience

  • 5+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects with at least 3 years leading medium to large cross-functional team projects
  • PMP/PMI certification is a plus
  • Six Sigma training preferred
  • 1+ years of previous experience with requirements gathering and documentation
  • 3+ years of experience with full product life cycle with understanding of development life cycle and various supporting technology methodologies
  • Health care experience and knowledge preferred
